A successful operations function can significantly influence an organization’s competitiveness in today’s challenging global economy. This course is designed to prepare the operations manager to plan overall strategy, develop tactical alternatives, and make sound operations decisions. The course develops the functional role of the operations manager, and examines the interdependent relationships within the organization–marketing and sales, product development and engineering, and finance and accounting. Students acquire the value concepts of quality, productivity, product design, effective process design, planning, and documentation. Strategies for facility layout, materials handling, and facility location analysis are studied as well. Performance measures and benchmarking, continuous process improvement, quality management, and project management also are introduced. The role of the operations manager in both qualitative and quantitative analyses is stressed, with working examples and take-home case studies.
A SEBRON Operations Management Certificate is awarded upon a successful completion of the course.
